Position Purpose:
- To provide communications by way of a computerized telephone network including various automated systems for Saint Anthony Hospital and its affiliates.
- To communicate and safeguard pertinent confidential information in a professional manner.
- To implement procedures designed for immediate responses to alarms, disasters, and emergency situations.
Essential Functions:
- Facilitates telephone communications including managing all telephone calls in a professional customer-service fashion, answering all calls by the third ring, using other integrated PC-based systems.
- Maintains daily logs/records as assigned by the Manager for on-call schedules, emergencies, and pagers. Reports all telecom system discrepancies to the department manager.
- Monitors alarms and implements the appropriate functions designed for emergency responses in a timely manner as described in department policies and procedures.
- Performs and maintains screen maintenance for Administrative and Medical Staff information on an online system.
- Assists with training of new employees and cross-training of existing staff members in relation to communicating accurate, appropriate information to maintain the online database.
- Performs alternate pager transactions as required. Maintains and provides system administration as authorized to the automated systems and related database. During downtimes, able to assist in other departmental projects and maintenance as needed.
General Job Requirements:
- Ability to demonstrate written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Basic computer knowledge (Microsoft Word/Excel).
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Ability to handle high volumes of incoming calls.
- Previous experience as an operator preferred.
- Ability to type 30 wpm preferred.
- Able to switch between multiple priorities effectively (multi-tasking).
- Previous hospital call center experience preferred.
- Work with others collaboratively, cooperatively, and in the spirit of teamwork.
