Job Objective:

The Technology Transfer Specialist is an established performer that is responsible for coordinating the transfer of new products, processes, and technologies from development to manufacturing. This role ensures a smooth transition by collaborating with R&D, engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams to optimize product scalability, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain product integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Facilitate collaboration between R&D teams, external partners, and commercialization teams.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Prepare or collect all documents and materials needed for products and technologies transfers.
  • Support product development activities as required.
  • Work with manufacturing personnel to transfer the products and technologies, following existing procedures.
  • Troubleshoot production problems.
  • Coordinate with Technical team for transfer of technologies.
  • Continue communication with the producer and provide technical support when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation related to technology transfer activities.
  • Prepare reports and updates for senior management and stakeholders.
  • Design new prototypes using the latest technology available as well as existing digital/non-digital technologies.
  • Produce unique, cutting-edge tile using new, as well as current, designs, materials, and applications.
  • Research for the newest color management, graphic design, and digital technologies to improve our current processes and products.
  • Serve as the backup for laser engraving, laser engraving adjustments, calibrations, and roller cloning to supply our plants.
  • Apply and research international practices and trends to improve aesthetic look, feel, and functionality of tile and stone products.
  • Research process improvements, technology improvements, and ceramic principles.
  • Attend worldwide trade shows to evaluate new product processes, and materials, benchmarking other manufacturers to improve current processes and products.
  • Understand process capabilities, materials, equipment, and methodologies at venues served by R&D.
  • Investigate new avenues of business growth as related to ceramic tile and digital imaging.
  • Recommend improvements to enhance process capabilities of our vendors, our plants, and/or within R&D.
  • Design and maintain all digital graphic files; interact with IS Dept. for file transfer, storage, and retrieval.
  • Solve digital design/graphic problems for the R&D Design and Product Development Teams as well as non-digital problems.
  • Perform graphic design modifications.
  • Operate and maintain the digital and color integrity/calibration of R&D's Pictocer, Cruse Scanner, Laser Roller Engravers, Paper Proofers, Roller Printers, high-Definition Cameras, and Monitors.
  • Propose the most optimal methods/timing/resources required to successfully introduce products into a producer's facility.
  • Prepare/collect all documents and materials needed for product transfers, coordinate visits to producer's facilities, work with producers in their facility to transfer the product, and coordinate product series testing for transferred products.
  • Work with the producer to supply Dal-Tile with first production samples, individual, and cumulative samples, and continue communication with the producer and provide technical support as needed to obtain various productivity/recovery objectives.
  • Perform other duties as needed.

Required Experience and Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in industrial design or a related field or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • 2-4 years relevant experience or equivalent education and/or experience.
  • Adobe Photo Shop Experience Preferred.

  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time effectively.
  • High level of integrity and discretion in handling sensitive and confidential data.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Suite of products.
