Job DescriptionMAJOR FUNCTION: Performs testing and quality control procedures, operates instrumentation, prepares reagents and reports results according to established policies and procedures. Performs all testing under the supervision of a Laboratory Department Supervisor, Laboratory Manager or Lead Technologist. Communicates with nursing/physicians regarding patient results and assist in various projects as needed. QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience:
- Associate of Science in laboratory science preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent with 50-week military training as Medical Lab Specialist OR graduate of an approved Medical Laboratory or Clinical Laboratory training program.
- 1 to 3 years clinical laboratory experience preferred.
Certification/Licensure:
- ASCP or equivalent, certified, or eligible, required.
- Certification must be achieved within 12 months after hire date.
Knowledge & Skills:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
