What You Will Be DoingDo you enjoy working with your hands? Do you have a natural knack for fixing and repairing things? Are you interested in a career as a diesel technician? Yancey has multiple apprenticeship opportunities that offer classroom and hands-on training to prepare you to work as a Heavy Equipment Diesel Technician.
Starting pay is $18-$23 per hour with scheduled increases at the 6-month and 12-month marks. All apprentices are provided with a complete set of tools (valued at $8,000) to use during their training and are eligible to keep them after two years of employment. This is a full-time entry level position which allows for advancement through the Yancey career development program after completion.

To be successful in this position you should have basic mechanical aptitude and a desire to work in the Heavy Equipment industry as a technician. You should have the drive to learn a new set of skills and be safety conscious. The ability to multitask, problem solve, and provide superior customer service are essential to this position as well.
