• Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent practical experience.
• 15 years of senior leadership experience in technical writing, content strategy or web development.
• 15 years of experience working with and influencing senior-level executives.

Preferred qualifications:

• Track record of driving transformational initiatives based on business and user needs.
• Ability to grasp and apply the general concepts of a technical domain to analyzing problems, providing insights, communicating technical information, and acquiring knowledge across technical domains.
• Ability to use knowledge and expertise to influence the direction or strategy of related content in adjacent domains and across the organization.
• Ability to digest business and technical requirements to evaluate new opportunities and assess impacts to cross-functional teams.
• Excellent thinking and problem-solving skills, particularly in identifying and addressing ambiguous or new problems spanning multiple systems/organizations.

About The JobTechnical writers communicate complex information clearly, concisely and accurately, and without relying on jargon. As a technical writer, your role involves tasks such as writing conceptual overviews and procedures, reading and writing example code, or updating help center queries and FAQs. Technical writers play a big part at Google. They are a key link between engineers, marketing associates, developer advocates, as well as all the external users and developers, tying together many vital but disparate parts of the Google ecosystem.Using your extensive technical and leadership experience, you manage a team of writers, setting direction, giving feedback, collaborating internally and lending specific content expertise.The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google's flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google. These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google's products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique opportunity to impact important technical decisions across the company.The US base salary range for this full-time position is $195,000-$275,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. • Set the strategy and direction for critical content sets based on domain skills. Drive initiatives aligned with business and user needs.
• Serve as a trusted peer to other leaders, effectively framing problems and solutions for executive leadership. Bring together relevant stakeholders across the organization to align content with user needs and product/program goals.
• Develop strategies for effective educational content that simplifies concepts, making it easier for Google developers to discover, adopt, and achieve their goals using Core Data's offering.
• Identify and address ambiguous or new problems spanning systems/organizations through thinking. Applying technical skills and business judgment to set strategy and direction for critical artifacts, services, or processes.
• Leverage Artificial Intelligence (AI) to accelerate content development and quality assurance, using experimentation and iteration to quickly find breakthrough solutions.
