We are looking for a technical support professional with a wide breadth of experience and a drive to learn new technology, to join our team as a Technical Support Specialist. Reporting to the Academic Technology Manager of Collaborative Technologies, the Technical Support Specialist will provide level 3 technical support, maintenance and repair of our wide variety of AV systems, printers and computers. This position is primarily responsible for the design, upgrade and maintenance of our printers and Pharos print management system. The successful candidate must be prepared to provide metrics and analytics, along with research and recommendations to continually improve our printing services to ensure our services meet or exceed curricular needs. This position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between Teamsters, Local 1205 and the University. RESPONSIBILITIES Required Technical Qualifications

  • Responsible for the design, and maintenance of our printers and print management system.
  • Provide recommendations for printing upgrades and metrics and analytics.
  • Research and maintain knowledge of current printing technology in order to improve services for our users.
  • Install, maintain, and configure computers, printers, and supporting technology.
  • Deploy, install, configure, upgrade, test and support software images and software.
  • Obtain certifications and update technical skills/training as required by management, and if necessary by manufacturers to maintain hardware warranty.
  • Train other IT staff as necessary on various technologies supported by the team.
  • Other projects and duties as assigned.
Required Organizational Qualifications:
  • Use SLA as a measure to report progress, achievements, provide statistics and improvement plans to the upper management regularly.
  • Build relationships with internal and external technical staff.
  • Deliver and exceed team performance targets and verify accuracy of metrics.
  • Write and share daily shift reports at the end of each shift.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent field experiences.
  • Knowledge of audio visual control systems, hardware, software and print technology and print management software.
  • Thorough understanding of printing workflows, including color calibration.
  • Experience troubleshooting laser and ink based printer issues as well as Macintosh and Windows issues.
  • Act as roaming technician, providing Level 3 technical support for classrooms and computer labs.
  • Clear verbal, written, and email communication skills.
  • High level of organization and efficiency.
  • Ability to coordinate and complete projects with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to quickly understand and recall technical knowledge.
  • Reliable and effective time management skills.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience in an academic environment.
  • Working knowledge of Extron and Crestron control systems, Avid Audio and Video Editing systems.
  • Experience supporting Windows and Mac OS.
  • InfoComm CTS or similar certifications.
  • Working knowledge of network-based computer image deployment.
  • Apple Service Certification.
WORK MODE
  • On-Campus Position - Employees in this position are expected to work on-campus during regularly scheduled work hours due to the nature of the work being that which is not feasible, or not in the best interest of the organization, to be performed remotely. #LI-Onsite
    • This position requires flexibility in hours and work locations, as needed, to accommodate University or departmental needs.
    • Availability to work daytime, evening, weekend as needed.
