Job Description :
PGS Worldwide is actively seeking a Technical Support Associate for a 1-year contract-to-hire opportunity in Richardson, TX, supporting a top-tier aerospace and defense manufacturing partner. This is a hands-on, high-voltage, second-shift position that plays a critical role in maintaining production readiness across multiple optics manufacturing factories-including Optical Fabrication, Diamond Point Turning, Optical Coating, and Assembly/Test. Candidates must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, physically engaged environment with minimal supervision. Required Qualifications:
  • 5-8 years of hands-on experience maintaining mechanical, electronic, and automated manufacturing equipment
  • Strong troubleshooting skills with both electrical and mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with:
    • High voltage systems (480V, 208V, 110V, and DC)
    • Multimeters, current probes, schematics, and diagnostic instruments
    • Automated equipment and control systems
  • Ability to work from schematics, manuals, and verbal instructions
  • Willingness to work 2nd shift after completing 6-8 weeks of 1st shift training
  • Flexible for occasional weekend work or call-ins
  • Not a desk-based or assistant technician role-must be fully hands-on
  • Associate's Degree in Electronics, Mechanical Technology, or related technical field
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Optical Coating (vacuum deposition) systems
  • Diamond Point Turning and RF Power Systems
  • PLC Systems and Ladder Logic troubleshooting
  • Experience in optics, aerospace, or defense environments
  • Strong independent problem-solving ability in high-demand manufacturing settings
Key Responsibilities:
  • Perform routine and complex troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair on a range of manufacturing equipment
  • Lead or support installation and upgrade of new/existing production equipment
  • Develop and follow preventive maintenance plans (including Lockout/Tagout procedures)
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Maintenance, and Operations teams to optimize uptime and performance
  • Use diagnostic tools and schematics to identify and resolve system issues
  • Contribute to layout planning, capital equipment procurement, and technical documentation updates
  • Maintain a high standard of safety in compliance with OSHA and site-specific regulations
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and kneel for extended periods
  • Frequent use of hands/tools for repair and diagnostics
  • Occasional lifting/moving of equipment up to 25 lbs
  • Ability to navigate tight production spaces and work around moderate noise/temperature conditions
Shift Details:
  • Training: 1st Shift (6-8 weeks)
  • Regular Shift: 2nd Shift (After training)
