Position Summary We are seeking a motivated and technically skilled Technical Sales Representative (TSR) to join our team and support the growth of our business within the metal finishing industry. The ideal candidate is a self-starter with strong communication skills, a problem-solving mindset, and the ability to work independently while managing a customer-focused sales territory. This role is best suited for someone who thrives on building strong client relationships, delivering hands-on technical support, and identifying new business opportunities. Candidates should be comfortable with local travel, customer presentations, and managing a dynamic schedule. Prior sales experience in the metal finishing industry is required.

Essential Responsibilities and duties

  • Provide regular support and service to existing customers and are expected to be the primary contact for their customer base. This includes engaging in problem solving and providing guidance on implementation of recommendations
  • Evaluate all revenue generating opportunities with existing and prospective business
  • Develop additional business within territory by prospecting, follow-up and proposal generation
  • Maintain independent work schedule, request management/technical support as needed
  • Submit various documentation (schedules, Service Reports, Trip Reports, ) to Sales Management and other departments as required
  • Develop annual sales forecast for the territory
  • Create and update customer documents (Standard Operating Procedures, Service Reports, Log Sheets, etc.) as necessary
  • Provide technical service for each territory account and report issues or concerns to the Industry Sales Manager
  • Attend sales meetings, training seminars and industry tradeshows
  • Maintain company property (automobile, computer, ) in good working order
  • Conduct themselves in a professional and business-like manner in the course of their business activities
  • Achieve sales objectives for the assigned territory
  • Provide product/process training to customer as requested
  • Submit timely expense reports and provide supporting documentation in accordance with IRS requirements and company policies

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Ability to create and confidently deliver professional presentations to customers
  • Capable of effectively demonstrating products and processes to customers and educating on proper product use
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and able to use standard business software for reporting, presentations, and documentation.
  • Problem-solving skills
  • Capable of managing multiple responsibilities and deadlines simultaneously
  • A proactive self-starter who takes initiative, manages time effectively, and requires minimal supervision to achieve objectives.
  • Collaborative team player, contributing to shared goals and supporting colleagues when needed.

Education/Experience

  • At least two years of college/university education required.
  • Prior metal finishing industry sales experience - minimum of 5 years required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

This position is fully remote with local and overnight travel required up to 30% of the time. Must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a good driving record.
