Position Description

This position is responsible for site supervision of hydro power plant equipment installations, upgrades and maintenance.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead site in preparing project plans not limited to work packages, lift plans, resource management, project schedule, laydown plans, etc. prior to outage/installation for use and review throughout project start up and execution.
  • Maintain superior customer relationships by setting high quality, safety and professional standards for all staff on site.
  • Read, review and understand all technical drawings and specifications.
  • Must be able to consistently prioritize and complete multiple tasks in the time allotted with minimal supervision.
  • Meets with the floor team to ensure proper site coordination and commitment to project schedule and budget.
  • Review contractual documentation (drawings, specifications, bills of material, etc.) to ensure compliance with the contract and Thompson HCMS standards.
  • Travel will be required.
  • Job Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience working in the Hydro industry, with 4 or more years of management experience in the hydro industry.
  • Must have the ability to troubleshoot problems and make logical decisions under extreme pressure to resolve technical field problems within scope of role.
  • Leadership ability.
  • Ability to write technical reports and business correspondence.
  • Communication and interpersonal skills essential. Must work well, collaborate and be a team player.
  • Computer skills required including Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), Windows, and internet. Microsoft Project or Primavera experience is a plus.
  • Must be able to lift over 40 lbs occasionally and up to 25 lbs multiple times daily.
  • 90% of time spent- constant standing, frequent squatting, frequent kneeling, constant walking, occasional climbing, frequent bending, frequent reaching.
  • 10% of time spent sitting (working in seated position).
  • Must be able to enter/ exit through small entries.
