Pay Grade:

Responsibilities and Scope:

• Delegate, communicate, and lead the team effectively.
• Knowledge of surgical, endoscopic, and robotic instrumentation.
• Perform surgical instrument decontamination using proper PPE.
• Monitor sterilization machines, prepare loads, and document processes accurately.
• Assemble, pack, wrap, and process instruments.
• Understand and maintain documentation for Immediate Use Steam Sterilization (IUSS).
• Operate sterilizers, plasma sterilizers, Washer Disinfectors, Ultrasonic Cleaners, and manage cart washers.
• Learn, use, teach, and troubleshoot the Impress Management System.
• Adhere to safety practices related to chemicals, steam, and hazardous materials.
• Review surgical schedules and identify instrument needs.
• Coordinate with surgical teams, vendors, and other staff to meet processing and repair needs.
• Order supplies as required.
• Document sterilizer and washer controls and tests to ensure sterility.
• Collaborate with Biomed and Facilities for equipment issues.
• Communicate with Clinical Managers or Directors to resolve issues.
• Follow VH policies and procedures.

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED.
• BLS Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider).
• Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST).
• Excellent communication skills.
• Leadership and mentoring abilities.
• Delegation skills.
