The Teacher Specialist for the Visually Impaired provides pre-referral and consultation services to students, parents and staff. Provides information for Individualized Education Planning Team (IEPT) planning and to related agencies. Available: One (1) full-time position; 7.0 hours per day, 186 days per year (Academic calendar). Salary: The Genesee Intermediate Education Association (GIEA) offers a competitive salary schedule for certificated staff, with consideration given to years of service. For the 2024-2025 school year, the salary schedule includes a 2% increase on the schedule, with salaries ranging from $36,896 to $87,437, depending on qualifications and experience. For the 2024-2025 school year, eligible special education positions will receive an additional 2% off-schedule stipend.

Qualifications:: Education: Master's degree required for Teacher Consultant; Valid Michigan teacher certificate eligible for approval through the Michigan Department of Education with an endorsement in one or more areas of special education. OR Possess a valid Michigan teaching certificate, and be actively working towards an endorsement in visual impairments AND Possess 1 of the following 3 requirements: masters' degree, a minimum of 3 years teaching experience, not less than 2 years of which are in special education, MDE teacher consultant approval.
