Purpose:
The Maine Department of Education is seeking a dynamic and dedicated Teacher/Principal to lead the educational program at Kingman School within the Education in the Unorganized Territory (EUT). This is an exciting opportunity to provide both instructional leadership and administrative oversight in a unique educational setting.
The position is responsible for implementing and managing the policies, regulations, and procedures of the Education in the Unorganized Territories to ensure that all students are supervised in a safe, child-centered learning environment that meets and exceeds state standards, following the approved curricula and directives of the school. Achieving academic excellence requires that the principal work collaboratively to lead and nurture all members of the school staff and to communicate effectively with parents, members of the community, and colleagues in other districts and schools. Inherent in the position are the responsibilities for teaching, planning, curriculum development, program evaluation, extracurricular activities, personnel management, financial management, emergency procedures, resource scheduling, and facilities operations.
This role offers the chance to make a direct impact on students' lives in Maine's Unorganized Territories while working in a close-knit educational community. The Teacher/Principal serves as both an instructional leader and school administrator, helping to shape the academic future of students in a rural setting.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
A Bachelors Degree in Education or related field and three (3) years experience in education.
Preference given to candidates that have obtained or are eligible to obtainthe following certifications through the MDOE:282 (Teacher: Child With Disabilities K-8) and 057 (teaching Principal PreK-8)Preference will also be given to candidates that have management/supervisory experience; experience or training in curriculum/instruction, interdisciplinary instruction, and/or project-based learning. Master's Degree in education, leadership, curriculum/instruction preferred.
As a condition of employment, the Department of Education requires the selected candidate to pass a fingerprint-based background check.
LICENSING/REGISTRATION/CERTIFICATIONREQUIREMENTS:(These must be met by all employees prior to attaining permanent status in this class).
Maine Teaching Certificate.
