Systems Lead Engineer

Pay rate: Negotiable

Permanent Position

Columbus, GA

Bachelor's Degree required

This critical role supports our Cisco UCS, VMware, and Storage infrastructure, focusing on hardware and currency aspects. Responsibilities include analyzing, developing, modifying, installing, testing, maintaining, and managing infrastructure components, system servers, and associated services. The engineer will handle complex tasks, lead team activities, troubleshoot production issues, and address risk-related findings. The role is vital for capacity planning and growth within our Data Center, especially for new server build components related to upcoming Line of Business projects.

Preferred Experience:

  • Gathering business requirements from users, performing data analysis, and coding/testing middleware routines to ensure seamless communication among IT systems and applications.
  • Evaluating vendor software packages and making recommendations to management. Optimizing software and hardware integration within the existing network infrastructure.
  • Participating in component and data architecture design, software evaluation, and buy versus build decisions.
  • Modifying, installing, and preparing technical documentation for system software applications.
  • Diagnosing, isolating, and debugging software problems, and performing resolution.
  • Monitoring system capacity and performance, planning and executing disaster recovery, and providing Tier 3 technical support.
  • Managing multiple projects and activities, sometimes as a project leader, providing expertise and technical direction to junior staff.
  • Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of system programming, GUIs, and control languages.
  • Providing technical training and direction to team members.
  • Leading team activities, providing leadership and direction, and participating in hiring, planning, and performance evaluations as per company policies and applicable laws.
