One Day in the Life

Medtronic's Acute Care & Monitoring (ACM) business seeks a Systems Integration Engineer II to join a high-performing team focused on defining, designing, and developing oximetry monitoring device systems. You will leverage your technical expertise and business acumen to accelerate the development of next-generation medical devices, impacting patients globally and supporting Medtronic's mission to alleviate pain, restore health, and extend life for millions.

This role requires strong technical and leadership skills to support innovative product development within the Oximetry & Wearables Group. You will work alongside Systems Engineers on projects from early development to market release, creating phased test strategies for comprehensive testing of sub-system interfaces.

The ideal candidate is passionate about patient care, motivated, and possesses excellent soft skills for team collaboration.

Systems Engineering involves trade-offs between risks, benefits, and performance within a complex regulatory environment, partnering with software, firmware, hardware, mechanical engineering, research, clinical, regulatory, product planning, and marketing teams.

This position supports technologies involving complex electronics, wired communication, adhesives, and a mix of consumer and medical technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Perform system testing activities and coordinate testing efforts
  • Define and manage test integration strategies and protocols throughout the product lifecycle
  • Support interface requirements definition between systems (software, hardware, firmware, mechanical)
  • Translate customer needs and workflows into testable requirements and design features
  • Assist in designing sub-system level tests to ensure robustness
  • Collaborate with Human Factors and Clinical Engineers for real-world and animal testing
  • Participate in Risk Analysis activities such as FMEA and Hazard Analysis
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification, and validation, considering cost and risk
  • Analyze across all system levels, from concept to disposal
  • Convert product requirements into system solutions respecting technical, schedule, and cost constraints
  • Conduct functional and timeline analyses, trade studies, and requirements allocation
Required Knowledge and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering with 2+ years of experience in systems/product development

OR

  • Advanced degree in engineering with 0+ years of experience
Nice to Have
  • Local to Colorado
  • Experience with electro-mechanical medical devices
  • Knowledge in requirements, test methods, and test equipment for embedded medical devices
  • Understanding of systems engineering principles and medical device regulation
  • Experience gathering user/clinician feedback
  • Knowledge of Design for Six Sigma or similar processes
  • Skills in Minitab, Matlab, Python, or R
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and mechanical drawings
  • Basic programming knowledge
  • Strong relationship-building skills across organizational levels

Compensation and Benefits

Salary range in the U.S.: $83,200 - $124,800. Eligible for incentive plans, 401(k), health benefits, and more. Details vary by location and employment status.
