Job Description :

GC&E Federal is seeking a Systems Administrator. The candidate for this position will work within our team to support our government Information Technology (IT) program with our Fort Devens client. As the Site Manager you will ensure the successful operations and maintenance of the GC&E contract for Fort Devens.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions:

  • Use hardware such as servers, NAS, SANs.
  • Microsoft OS's such as the latest Windows Server version.
  • Use VMware ESXi hosts.
  • Use VCenter.
  • Windows 11 and later.
  • Implement Microsoft Server applications such as SQL Server, SharePoint, and Commvault Configuration and Administration.
  • Diagnose and correct OS and server application problems.
  • Build new systems by installing the Army Gold Master (AGM) approved OS, server applications, and required security patches; and identify and install required drivers.
  • Provide system administration for mission-specific servers.
  • Support and install hardware, operating system, and software for mission-specific servers once the Government has purchased the required hardware and software.
  • Maintain Storage Area Network and Network Attached Storage (e.g., home directories, workgroup shares) for mission-specific requirements.

Physical Requirements:

  • Predominantly indoors in a normal office environment.
  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, and reach.
  • Must be able to climb telecommunication towers.
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English.
  • May require frequent computer use for several hours at a time.
  • Frequently work at a fast pace with unscheduled interruptions.
  • Must have visual acuity.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.

Location:

  • Fort Devens – This is not a remote position. Local candidates only.

Required Work Authorization:

  • United States.

Job Type:

  • Full-time.

Experience:

  • Minimum five (5) years in-depth experience.
  • Proficient with the monitoring and configuring of servers to ensure peak performance.

Candidate Requirements:

  • CompTIA Security +.
  • Certified in the latest Microsoft Server OS approved by the Department of the Army or DoD.
  • Proficient with tape backup and other backup solutions.
  • Proficient with Active Directory and Group Policy.
  • Able to specify, estimate, and recommend the hardware required to support the intended server use; assemble and configure new hardware, diagnose, and correct hardware problems, perform upgrades, and install new or replacement hardware.
  • Proficient in the creation and running of scripts against the OU for the purpose of extracting data and producing reports for various tasks, projects, and data calls.
  • Proficient in monitoring space utilization and backup logs; familiar with Commvault Enterprise Backup software and/or other backup methods as may be directed by the Government.
  • Able to manage Linux/Unix servers approved by the Department of the Army or DoD.
