The Department of Information Services at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University is seeking a full-time Senior Programmer Analyst, Systems Administrator/Cloud Architect.

The System Administrator/Cloud Architect is charged with installing, configuring, maintaining, managing, and performing upgrades on Cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google, Oracle) and rolling out the organization's Windows and Linux operating systems in a Cloud hosted environment.

The Cloud Architect will be responsible for architecting, configuring, and maintaining Cloud infrastructure and related technologies (AWS EC2, VMC, Azure VMs, S3, VPCs, Landing Zone etc.). Responsibilities include modernizing and adapting applications to Cloud technologies, ensuring compliance with best practices, optimizing performance, and enforcing Cloud governance policies.

Additional responsibilities include:

  • Providing support for other Cloud technologies used by the organization such as Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud.
  • Assisting in troubleshooting and correcting errors, adapting to new technologies, and maintaining interfaces.
  • Developing procedures and providing support to administration for meaningful use processes.
  • Performing daily maintenance of existing and future software.
  • Applying proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist user groups.
  • Providing project management and coordination for system infrastructure projects.

Additional duties and responsibilities will include:

  • Communicating with management & project staff on budget, departmental IT requirements, policies & procedures, project status, and new programs.
  • Providing access to information in supporting patient care, education, and research.
  • Overseeing 3rd party system integrators and subcontractors.
  • Installing new software releases, system upgrades, and resolving software-related problems.
  • Performing system backups/images and recovery.
  • Monitoring system configuration to ensure data integrity.
  • Ensuring knowledge of cyber security best practices.
  • Documenting the configuration of the system and troubleshooting reported problems.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or Master's Degree in Computer Science or Information Technology, or equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in computer support services in the Healthcare industry.
  • 5+ years solid experience with AWS or Azure Cloud architecting, migration, and support.
  • Strong knowledge of AWS and Azure Cloud technologies.
  • In-depth knowledge of DNS, TCP/IP, HTTP, CDN, and VPC.
  • Cloud infrastructure expertise is a plus.
  • Backup and Disaster recovery software experience is highly desirable.
  • Excellent teamwork and teambuilding skills.
  • Ability to work off hours and weekends when business needs require.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Technical certificates are preferred.
  • Knowledge of Storage technologies is highly desirable.
  • Excellent interpersonal, written, and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated record of bringing together diverse functions and building effective teams is a plus.

Work Schedule:

Monday to Friday; 9:00am to 5:00pm (Full-Time)

Salary Range: Commensurate with experience and qualifications
