System Specialist IV - VanderHouwen : Job Details

System Specialist IVOur client is seeking a seasoned System Specialist IV to support the ongoing development and maintenance of critical financial systems. This individual will play a key role in delivering high-quality enhancements, conducting thorough code testing, and resolving technical issues within mainframe environments. The ideal candidate is a strong communicator with deep technical expertise and a collaborative mindset.

This role is fully remote working part-time Monday-Friday from 8AM-12PM PST.

System Specialist IV Responsibilities

• Lead or support the development, maintenance, and enhancement of mainframe-based financial systems.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues, including software bugs and system break/fix tasks.
• Create and maintain detailed documentation related to code updates and issue resolutions.
• Conduct thorough quality assurance and testing of developed or updated code.
• Share knowledge and provide support to internal staff on implemented changes and system functions.

System Specialist IV Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of experience in computer systems development, or equivalent technical experience.
• At least 3 years supporting the operations and maintenance of financial systems in a mainframe environment.
• Proficiency with COBOL, DB2, IBM CICS on z/OS, REXX, and mainframe integration tools such as SyncSort, ICETOOL, and Easytrieve.
• Familiarity with Java and scripting languages in mainframe contexts.
• Hands-on experience with schema changes for DB2 z/OS and tools such as PanValet.
• Strong analytical skills and advanced-level experience in data analysis and systems integration planning.
• Expert-level communication skills, both written and verbal.
• Highly proficient in Microsoft Office applications.
