System Operations Support Position
Join us in our fast-paced support to develop, advance, and sustain weapon systems for the U.S. Space Force (USSF) and its mission partners. You will be joining a team of personnel with experience and an in-depth understanding of the environments that include ground, near-space, space, and any system that operates in those environments to meet current and projected strategic, operational, and tactical needs for the Department of Defense (DoD). QinetiQ is a mission-led innovation company that works with the USSF and DoD to design, develop, field, and maintain requirements essential to national security and the survivability of the warfighter. We are seeking System Operations Support personnel. The System Operations Support personnel will be responsible for providing expert insight, knowledge, and perspectives on the operational aspects of space systems including command and control. This includes developing operational workflow design, agile persona management and user journey development, namely with Space Force operators. The ideal candidate will have significant experience and expertise working with highly classified space programs, especially the use of Agile processes and implementation for large-scale software and hardware programs with an emphasis on user/operator engagement and comprehensive user experience design. This position requires an individual who can work closely with leadership, stakeholders, development, and operational communities.
Responsibilities:
- Provide space operations and technical advice for projects and programs as well as support program acquisition efforts for advanced technology, future concept development, and integration activities.
- Support the revision or drafting of JCIDS and acquisition documentation such as Initial Capability Documents, Analysis of Alternatives, Concept of Operations, Technical/Systems Requirement Documents, Technical Evaluations, and System Specifications.
- Provide inputs and support on technical and/or programmatic status reporting of individual projects, programs, or portfolios.
- Identify areas of improvement with actionable, feasible recommendations, and tasks for reducing risk where appropriate as well as support risk identification, process definition, and detailed technical risk mitigation plans.
- Maintain awareness of current program schedule, monitor acquisition implementation, report requirement shortfalls, and provide program assessments based on the identified risks.
- Shall advise the Government program manager on technical engagements such as technical interchange meetings, design reviews, program conferences, and other informational meetings.
- Maintain a broad awareness and understanding of all programs and technology development efforts in execution across the applicable portfolio as well as assist integrated product teams and working groups.
- Provide technical and operational insight to support mission protection, operations, and mission data assessments as well as recommend viable solutions for technical anomalies.
- Provide engineering and technical expertise to support ongoing and new/advanced C2 efforts and integration into the classified portfolio.
- Advise the Government program manager regarding robust software planning and development for a spiral/agile acquisition program.
Required Qualifications:
- Extensive expertise and experience working with highly classified space programs.
- Extensive operational experience with command and control of space systems.
- Experience with Agile processes and implementation for large-scale software and hardware programs with an emphasis on user/operator engagement and comprehensive user experience design.
- Expertise in operational workflow design, agile user persona management and user journey development.
- Expertise in agile product ownership principles and best practices for guiding effective software development.
- Extensive knowledge of Space Force command and control infrastructure and platforms.
- Experience working directly with Space Force operators.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple competing priorities.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills.
- Ability to identify and solve problems.
- PhD/JD; however, experience can be traded in lieu of education (BS/BA w/>14 yrs, MS/MA w/> 12 yrs, and PHD/JD w/> 9 yrs)
- 10+ years of relevant experience
