Job Description :

Charlotte County Airport Authority (CCAA) is currently accepting applications for the full-time, exempt System Administrator position at Punta Gorda Airport (PGD). This role supports the airport's technology infrastructure, ensuring reliability, security, and performance across mission-critical systems.

Responsibilities

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Active Directory, Azure, and Microsoft 365 environments.
  • Configure and support Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and automate administrative processes using PowerShell.
  • Manage servers, virtual environments, and backup systems using VMware vSphere, vCenter, ESXi, and Veeam.
  • Support and maintain network infrastructure, VPNs, and remote access systems; administer Cisco Meraki and Palo Alto devices.
  • Ensure system uptime and availability through proactive monitoring, disaster recovery testing, and regular backup validation.
  • Monitor system performance, capacity, and compliance with cybersecurity and airport regulatory standards.
  • Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for end users and coordinate with the IT team on cross-functional projects.
  • Collaborate with vendors and consultants to evaluate, implement, and maintain third-party technology solutions.
  • Participate in the formal procurement process, including specification development and vendor evaluation.
  • Provide on-call and after-hours support as needed to maintain critical systems and respond to operational disruptions or emergencies.
  • All airport employees may be required to work before, during, or after emergencies, including performing duties outside normal responsibilities or schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned or required.

Minimum Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in systems administration, virtualization, and troubleshooting in high-availability environments.
  • Experience with airport, public sector, or government environments preferred.
  • Certifications preferred: Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, CompTIA Server+, Cisco CCNA.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Strong knowledge of Windows Server, Azure, and enterprise network administration.
  • Proficiency with virtualization technologies, backup/recovery platforms, and cybersecurity practices.
  • Understanding of LAN/WAN architecture, firewalls, VPNs, and secure remote access.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with strong attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects and priorities effectively.
  • Ability to work independently with sound judgment and minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant system management tools.

Working Conditions and Physical Effort

  • Good visual acuity to work inside under artificial lighting and in bright sunlight.
  • Must be able to pass background checks required for access to secure airport areas.
  • Flexibility to work extended and irregular hours, including evenings or weekends for project deadlines or emergency response.
  • Able to sit or stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Salary: $70,268.38 – $89,592.18 per year.
