Job Description :

Certification: DoD 8570, IAT Level II SEC+ within 6 months of hire date.

Location: Columbus, OH

Work Schedule: 100% Onsite

This sub-family is responsible for installation, configuration, administration, support, and maintenance of systems, including associated hardware. Responsibilities include managing system infrastructures, implementing best practices, configuring physical and virtual systems, backing up and recovering IT infrastructure. Support duties involve tuning system performance, managing storage, applying critical patches, reviewing logs, and troubleshooting issues.

Impact: Achieves day-to-day objectives with moderate impact; works independently on larger, moderately complex projects; may assist other technical staff.

Complexity: Addresses somewhat complex technical issues using best practices and collaboration, developing solutions that require technical depth but are generally limited in complexity.

Communication: Communicates with colleagues across multiple areas, explaining technical solutions and procedures.

Knowledge: Requires working knowledge of standards, principles, and techniques of the technical domain.

Typical Education & Experience: Usually a BS degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience or a Masters with less than 2 years of experience.

We seek a candidate experienced with Windows server or Linux server operations, sustainment, and management to support the DoDs secure mobile device service. You will work within a Network Operations team managing servers, network appliances, and applications supporting voice and data services.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and maintain enterprise environments with Windows and Linux servers and network appliances.
  • Assist mission partners with VPN connectivity, user and device management, and troubleshooting access issues.
  • Perform configuration updates, patches, and system security maintenance.
  • Respond to issues affecting system or network performance to minimize downtime.
  • Resolve moderately complex technical issues using SOPs and team collaboration.
  • Create and update documentation for issues and processes.
  • Suggest process improvements to enhance environment efficiency.
  • Support after-hours maintenance and be available for onsite support for critical issues.
  • Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelors degree with 2 years of related experience or Masters with less than 2 years of experience; additional experience may substitute for education.
  • DoD-8570 IAT Level 2 certification (Security+ CE) within 6 months of hire.
  • Experience troubleshooting software, networking, Windows, or Linux issues.
  • Experience with system administration tasks: installation, monitoring, recovery, upgrades, patches.
  • Ability to research technical solutions beyond SOPs.
  • Willingness to learn new technologies and work with multiple systems.
  • Self-motivated with strong work ethic, able to work independently.
  • Good judgment, professionalism, and clear communication skills.
  • Strong problem-solving, critical thinking, and analytical skills.
  • Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience configuring network devices: switches, routers, firewalls, VPNs.
  • Scripting or automation skills.
  • Experience with VMWare (ESX/ESXi, vCenter, vSphere).
  • Knowledge of AD, SCCM, SQL, MySQL, SELinux, DNS.
  • Understanding of networking concepts like OSI, LAN/WAN, IPv4/IPv6, subnetting, VLANs.
  • Experience maintaining systems in air-gapped environments.
  • Knowledge of security policies like DISA STIGS and vulnerability management.
  • Certifications from vendors like Microsoft, Red Hat, VMware, Cisco, Juniper, Aruba.
