Summary

The Program Aide will actively observe and monitor activities of Summer Youth Employment Program (SYEP) participants. Responsibilities include processing payroll, managing multiple assignments, prioritizing tasks, and taking initiative. The candidate must have a proven track record in customer service. Travel within Queens and Brooklyn boroughs for site visits is required. Prepare weekly assessment reports reflecting field observations, collect and verify timesheets, and maintain participant files. Maintain communication with worksite supervisors and report conflicts to the Program Director. Facilitate weekly educational workshops for 20-40 participants (ages 14-24) using the provided curriculum. Attend meetings, trainings, and perform other duties as assigned.

Essential Functions
  • Provide clerical support for summer, afterschool, or school-year programs.
  • Collaborate with site leadership on youth development activities.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, families, and school staff.
  • Coordinate events such as showcases, exhibits, and culminating activities.
  • Engage participants in activities, provide encouragement, and deliver resources.
  • Prepare necessary paperwork and materials, and submit documents timely.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • College student or high school graduate, 18 years or older.
  • Two years of experience working with children or youth in relevant settings.
  • Strong supervisory skills and ability to motivate youth.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to plan, prioritize, and work independently.
  • Ability to multitask and adhere to deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bilingual abilities in Spanish, Creole, Bengali, or other languages based on client needs.
