These efforts are monitored and assessed regularly to ensure accountability to all stakeholders.Position Summary:The Lower School Academy at Lawrence High School is seeking a dynamic 10th Grade SPED ELA Co-Teacher to join a team of committed educators supporting diverse learners. The ideal candidate will co-teach four sections of English 10 and lead one Academic Reinforcement class. The Co-Teacher will collaborate with general education teachers, Special Education staff, and ESL colleagues to ensure that all students receive the support and instruction necessary to achieve grade-level success. This role demands a commitment to inclusion, differentiated instruction, and a belief in the potential of every learner.Essential Duties & Responsibilities:•Co-teach four sections of English 10 and lead one section of Academic Reinforcement•Align instruction to Massachusetts Curriculum Frameworks and grade-level expectations•Collaboratively design and implement lessons and accommodations/modifications for students with IEPs•Implement and analyze formative and summative assessments to guide instruction•Meet weekly with content teams and interdisciplinary teaching cohorts•Collaborate with ESL and Special Education staff to differentiate instruction•Participate in biweekly instructional coaching and apply feedback to improve instructional practice•Serve as an academic advisor to a small cohort of students•Communicate weekly with families about student progress and engagement•Maintain accurate student records and progress monitoring documentation•Support the creation of a culturally responsive, inclusive classroom cultureKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:•Deep understanding of inclusive practices and co-teaching models•Knowledge of ELA content standards and strategies for supporting literacy development•Ability to effectively support English Language Learners and students with disabilities•Strong data analysis skills to guide instructional decisions•Commitment to equity and culturally responsive teaching practices•Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues and families•Willingness to reflect and grow through feedback and coaching•Positive attitude, flexibility, and a sense of humor in a fast-paced school setting•Proficiency with Google Workspace and/or other instructional technologiesQualifications & Requirements:•Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred•Valid Massachusetts DESE licensure in Moderate Disabilities (5-12) and English (5-12) preferred•SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) endorsement required•Passing MTEL scores in Communication and Literacy and subject-area knowledge tests•Minimum two years of experience teaching in urban public schools preferred•U.S. citizenship, residency, or valid work authorization requiredEqual Opportunity EmployerLawrence Public Schools is an equal opportunity employer committed to fostering an inclusive environment for employees and applicants.
