Description & Requirements

The energy of a newsroom, the pace of a trading floor, the buzz of a recent tech breakthrough; we work hard, and we work fast - while keeping up the quality and accuracy we're known for. It's what keeps us inventing and reinventing, all the time. Our culture is wide open, just like our spaces. We bring out the best in each other through collaboration. Through our countless volunteer projects, we also help network with the communities around us, too. You can do amazing work here. Work you couldn't do anywhere else. It's up to you to make it happen.

What makes Bloomberg unique is that we take a holistic, multi-faceted approach to sustainability. We're focused on operating our company sustainably and responsibly and offering environmental, social and governance (ESG) data and unique technology solutions that help clients meet their business objectives. We're also creating tools and developing initiatives to help strengthen the marketplace's transition towards a low-carbon economy, supporting governments in thinking through the policy role and, through philanthropic endeavors, investing in the sustainability of communities across the world. We convene multi-disciplinary experts, business and governmental leaders and some of the world's most influential people to contemplate solutions to tough sustainability challenges. All told, we are helping build the infrastructure for a sustainable future.

Our Team

Bloomberg's Global Sustainability Office (GSO) is responsible for the development and execution of Bloomberg's enterprise-wide sustainability strategy, program implementation, and external reporting. The GSO collaborates across the business under a robust governance structure to set comprehensive ESG-related objectives, targets and action plans that drive the business towards its global sustainability commitments. The Strategy & Operations function within the GSO is charged with translating business priorities into long term sustainability strategies and driving cross functional implementation of key sustainability programs.

What's The Role?

We are seeking an experienced, strategic, and action-oriented Sustainability Specialist to lead and advance sustainability initiatives across our global operations. This role requires deep expertise in sustainability frameworks and operational sustainability, with a proven ability to influence strategic decision-making, drive measurable impact, and ensure alignment with corporate sustainability and decarbonization objectives.

We'll Trust You To:

• Lead high-impact, cross-functional sustainability initiatives across facilities, supply chain, risk management, and corporate strategy—ensuring alignment with enterprise sustainability goals and long-term value creation.

• Design and deliver business-integrated sustainability strategies that demonstrate return on investment, environmental performance improvement, and compliance with regulatory expectations.

• Manage relationships with internal business units and external partners, acting as a subject matter expert and advisor to sustainability leadership on sustainability risks, opportunities, and strategic alignment.

• Develop, monitor, and refine sustainability performance indicators (KPIs), integrating data into ESG disclosures and business decision-making processes. Drive accountability through clear reporting structures and outcome tracking.

• Identify complex sustainability and compliance challenges, conduct root cause analysis, and implement data-driven solutions that enhance operational efficiency and environmental performance.

• Ensure proactive compliance with current and emerging environmental regulations, standards (e.g., ISO 14001), and voluntary ESG frameworks (e.g., TCFD, GRI, SASB).

• Utilize digital tools and data platforms to automate tracking, improve reporting accuracy, and elevate the operational excellence of sustainability programs.

• Design and facilitate enterprise-wide ESG training initiatives and workshops to strengthen internal capabilities, promote ESG literacy, and embed sustainability into business culture.

• Mentor team members across the GSO Strategy & Operations function as programs are developed and implemented.

You'll Need to Have:

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.

• Minimum of 8 years of progressive experience in corporate sustainability or sustainable operations.

• Advanced understanding of ESG frameworks, reporting standards and global environmental regulations.

• Demonstrated ability to drive complex sustainability programs, build consensus, and influence senior leaders.

• Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills, with experience in interpreting sustainability data, developing KPIs, and integrating insights into business strategies.

• Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to engage cross-functional teams and senior leadership.

• Proven success in project management, including planning, implementation, and performance monitoring in sustainability or compliance-driven initiatives.

We'd Love to See:

• Master's degree in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Economics, Public Policy, Engineering, or a related quantitative discipline.

• Experience with statistical modeling and applied data analysis (e.g., Excel, R, Python).

• CFA, CAIA, or similar designation with sustainability relevance.

• Experience using the Bloomberg Terminal.

• Multilingual proficiency (in addition to English) to support global collaboration.
