Post-Doctoral Fellow Position:Advanced sustainable materials for sensing applications 12243

Job description:Sustainable Materials Research Center (SUSMAT-RC) is seeking a highly motivated and talented postdoctoral fellow to join our research team focused on developing innovative and sustainable sensor systems for industrial applications. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge research in sustainable materials, aiming to develop solutions that support smart and sustainable practices in industrial processes. The successful candidate will develop innovative sensing platforms using advanced manufacturing techniques and strategies, leveraging miniaturized, low-cost, and efficient components for seamless integration into industrial equipment and infrastructure.

Key duties:

  • Design, develop, and optimize sensors for industrial applications, exploring novel sensing technologies and materials.
  • Conduct research on polymers, molecularly imprinted polymers, and polymer-based nanocomposites, including synthesis, characterization, and application.
  • Perform sensor processing tasks such as design, fabrication, and characterization.
  • Conduct rigorous field testing to ensure sensor accuracy, reliability, and robustness.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, including engineers and data scientists, to integrate sensor technologies into industrial systems.
  • Maintain detailed records of experiments, results, and observations.
  • Prepare technical reports, research papers, and presentations for conferences and publications.
  • Contribute to research ideas, grant writing, and seek external funding opportunities.
  • Utilize analytical techniques (GC/LC-MS, HPLC, etc.), spectroscopic techniques (UV-Vis, FTIR, Raman, NMR, XRD), and microscopy techniques (SEM, TEM, AFM) for characterization.
  • Apply electrochemical techniques (CV, LSV, DPV, SWV, EIS) for polymer and nanocomposite analysis.
  • Engage in surface modification of substrates and processing of sustainable materials, including (bio)polymer composites.
  • Supervise undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students.

Candidate criteria:

  • Ph.D. in analytical chemistry, polymer science, materials science and engineering, or related fields.
  • Strong motivation and passion for sensor research.
  • Initiative, self-motivation, and focus on quality outputs.
  • Good time management and prioritization skills.
  • Analytical, problem-solving, and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.
