Your responsibilities will encompass conducting comprehensive site assessments and utilizing advanced survey equipment, such as GPS and robotic total stations, to gather and record accurate field data. You will prepare detailed staking sheets and plans compliant with cooperative standards, the National Electric Safety Code (NESC), and Rural Utilities Service (RUS) specifications. Interaction with property owners and government entities will be essential for securing right-of-way easements and permits.Additionally, you will collaborate closely with engineering and construction teams to ensure seamless project execution while adhering to safety guidelines. This position also includes participation in storm recovery efforts, ensuring safe and efficient operations during critical times. Join us in shaping the future of electric service in Lafayette, LA, while making a positive impact in the community.Are you the Survey Technician we're looking for?To be successful as a Full-Time Survey Technician at Southwest Louisiana Electric Membership Corporation (SLEMCO), candidates should possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with an Associate's degree in engineering technology or Land Surveying, or a minimum of five years of relevant experience. Familiarity with utility line staking, easement acquisition, and electric distribution system construction is highly advantageous. Proficiency in GPS survey equipment and total stations, along with strong field data collection techniques, is essential. Candidates must be adept at reading and interpreting construction plans, survey maps, and technical documentation.Effective communication and interpersonal skills are crucial for successful interactions with members, contractors, and government entities. Strong organizational and time management abilities will enable you to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Additionally, problem-solving skills and the capacity to work independently or collaboratively are vital.
