Surgical First Assist – Travel Contract ( CSFA - OR)
Location: Midland, MI
Shift: 6:30 AM – 7:00 PM
Guaranteed Hours: 40 hours/week
Pay: $57 - $62
Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Surgical First Assist to support operating room procedures on a travel assignment. This role is essential in preparing the surgical suite, ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready and in proper working condition.
As a Surgical First Assist, you will play a direct role in patient care by assisting surgeons during procedures, providing exposure, hemostasis, suturing, retraction, suctioning, tissue handling, and applying appropriate dressings post-surgery. You'll work collaboratively with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimal outcomes.
Responsibilities:
Prepare the surgical suite with all necessary supplies and instruments
Assist surgeons intraoperatively with exposure, suturing, cautery, and hemostasis
Maintain sterile technique and assist with draping and retraction
Apply proper dressing material following procedures
Collaborate effectively within the OR team to support safe operations
Requirements:-
Minimum 1+ years of First Assist experience (Required)
Travel experience (Highly preferred)
Valid Certifications/Licensure: NBSTSA, NCCT, or ABSA; BLS (AHA)
Additional Details:
On-Call: 1–2 nights per week and every 4th weekend
Weekend Requirement: Every 4th weekend
