Responsibilities

The Surgery Scheduler position is the first point of customer service contact for our patients, physicians, other clinic staff, internal and external laboratory and imaging staff, hospital staff, patient family members, and vendors. The role involves offering excellent customer service, communication, and appropriate distribution of phone calls and messages. The Surgery Scheduler may also perform duties such as collecting and updating demographics and insurance information, verifying health plan eligibility, taking complete and accurate messages, and scheduling appointments using an electronic practice management system. Additional clerical duties may be performed as needed to support daily clinic operations, benchmarks, and quality patient care initiatives according to departmental guidelines.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Excellent interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills
  • Proficiency in keyboarding and using computer equipment and software, including standard office equipment
  • Understanding of the serious impact of decisions on patient relationships, physician efficiency, resource stewardship, and community image
Preferred Qualifications
  • Six months' experience in an outpatient setting as a Medical Office Receptionist or similar role, or equivalent experience in high-volume customer service or scheduling roles
  • Familiarity with electronic practice management systems
  • Experience with multi-line or ACD phones
  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • This position is represented by SEIU-UHW
  • The candidate may be required to work Saturdays to support clinics

$27.16 - $31.05 per hour
