Position Summary Under the direction of the Support Services Supervisor, this employee may perform lateral duties in the Records Division of the Police Department, including clerical and office related work, establishing and maintaining police reports. Starting Pay: $20.00 per hour FLSA Status: Non-Exempt Schedule: 4 x 10-hour shifts per week, Monday - Thursday Benefits : Health, dental, and life insurance, PTO and paid holidays, vision reimbursement plan Retirement: Utah Retirement Systems, Pension and/or 401(k) Posting Close Date: May close any time after August 20th, 2025 Hiring Process This is generally a 3-month process.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Primary assignment working in the Records Division of the Police Department, processing and maintaining police reports, directing and assisting the public and other employees, answering and routing phone calls, taking messages and complaints properly and courteously.
  • Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge base of Versaterm (Records Managements System).
  • May collect and deposit money received from insurance companies and the public.
  • Process and maintain all reports, including officers' daily reports, insurance requests, visa clearances, requests for reports, impounds and subpoenas.
  • Operate office equipment, copy machine, computer terminal and transcribing system in connection with various office duties.
  • Assist officers or departmental secretaries in all clerical functions.
  • Other duties may include; expungements, NCIC desk, help desk, scanning, transcriptions, packet processing and general data entry.
  • Willingness to work overtime to meet workload of the department when necessary.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding police reports, UCJIS information and all other police matters deemed confidential.
Requirements
  • Knowledge of daily office functions and working knowledge of modern office equipment.
  • Basic clerical skills to include typing, filing, spelling, punctuation, grammar and telephone answering skills.
  • Previous experience in computer data entry helpful.
  • Must have the ability to establish effective working relationships with peers, supervisors, and the general public.
  • Able to react to change productively and to handle other tasks as assigned.
  • Willingness to work shift work and adapt to changes to meet department needs and expectations.
Education and/or Experience
  • Graduation from a standard senior high school or equivalent.
  • One (1) year working experience.
Language Skills
  • Must be able to communicate effectively in English both verbally and in writing.
  • Bi-lingual (Spanish) preferred.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
  • Valid Utah Driver's License, or the ability to obtain one.
Reasoning Ability
  • Responsibility for the use of discretion and independent judgment in the creation and release of important and potentially damaging information.
Other Skills and Abilities
  • Responsibility for the care, condition and use of materials, equipment, money and tools.
Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, talk or listen.
  • Moderate lifting including heavy items.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
