The Prince George's County Police Department is currently seeking qualified applicants to fill a Supply Property Clerk 3P, grade P12 position in the Evidence and Property Division. About this Position This is a full performance administrative support position with various duties and responsibilities. Work requires knowledge of Personnel Law, general orders and departmental policies and regulations. This position requires the ability to communicate well with others.   • Administers the daily activities related to the collection, storage retrieval, release, and purging of property collected by the Prince Georges County Police Department.
  • Secures and maintains records of all confiscated and recovered property.
  • Prepares all paperwork for property being sent to auctions and destroyed.
  • Assists with purges, transportation, and destruction of stored material.
  • Process gun hearing applications, ensuring that all gun hearing applications are properly handled, and background checks are completed for the OIC to review. When necessary, will conduct gun hearings.
  • Maintains an orderly method for storage of firearms in accordance with established departmental guidelines.
  • Maintains accurate and detailed logs of all property that has been purged from the facility.
  • Demonstrates a good knowledge of firearm handling and chain of custody procedures.
  • Prepares written reports.
  • Handles and clears firearms safely.
  • Handles confiscated money, jewelry, and bio-contaminated items safely.
  • Works in partnership with internal and external customers to assist in finding resolution to immediate problems.
Qualifications
  • Must have experience at the Supply/Property Clerk II level equal to the probationary period (6 months)
or
  • Possess high school diploma or GED certificate
  • Two (2) years of experience in varied inventory control work including purchasing, distribution, invoicing and/or procurement and stocking a broad variety of equipment, materials or supplies
Any equivalent combination of relevant training, education and experience may also be considered. Preferred Qualifications
  • Working knowledge of the Records Management Systems (RMS)
  • Working knowledge of the National Crime Information Center (NCIC) database system
  • Working knowledge of firearm handling
