Job Description Marketing Statement: This position ensures compliance during the night shift from 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM. You will focus on procedure adherence and Roadway Worker Protection while supporting the team. If you are proactive, detail-oriented, and motivated, this role gives you the chance to ensure safe, smooth operations during a critical shift. Minimum Qualifications: Education
  • Vocational or technical school certification, i.e. welding, mechanical, or construction trades
    • In lieu of Technical School certification, a High School Diploma or GED and two (2) years of track maintenance, repairs, or inspection experience on Class 1, Commuter Railroad or an electrified rail transit system may be considered.
Experience
  • Three, (3), years of track maintenance, repairs, or inspection on Class 1, Commuter Railroad or an electrified rail transit system.
Certification/Licensure
  • N/A
Preferred
  • Vocational or technical school certification (i.e. welding, mechanical, or construction trades).

  • In accordance with the Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority¿s Continuity of Operations Plan (COOP) this job has been identified as critical to mission essential functions. Incumbents in this role may be required to report to or continue to work in the event of authorized office closings or service suspensions due to severe weather, natural disaster, fire, operational emergencies or related events.
Job Summary: The Supervisor of Track Inspection is responsible for the effective oversight of assigned inspection personnel in their performance of prompt and efficient track and way and support structure maintenance, in addition to mainline, yard and other maintenance activities such as station leak repair. Supports Track & Structures (TRST) in the overall management of work processes to correct and ensure a state of good repair (SOGR). This includes reviewing work processes and procedures, inspecting completed work, investigating track related issues, identifying opportunities for process improvement and instructing inspection and repair workers on proper procedures and processes. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Schedules repairs on track related assets to repair or mitigate any defects identified by inspection reports. Maintains track inspection defect database (ex. Maximo, OPTRAM) in order to plan, schedule and execute work.
  • Oversees the scheduling and review of Washington Metropolitan Area Transit Authority (WMATA) track inspection reports for all mainline and secondary track. Ensures the integrity of WMATA¿s assets in compliance with WMATA 1000 standards and secures GOTR¿s access.
  • Attends and/or coordinates department safety meetings (e.g. MOWE and TAMC).
  • In accordance with OPTRAM, Maximo and third party reports, develops long range plan for end of life-cycle replacement in coordination with other internal and external agencies in order to provide scopes for future work and budgetary forecasting.
  • Supervises and manages work assignments, work schedules and performance evaluations of union personnel to ensure the efficiency and effectiveness of job duties performed by personnel.
