Key Responsibilities:
\n
\n- Quality Patient Care: Assure the delivery of top-notch care by all Respiratory Care staff.
\n- Educational Resource: Serve as a knowledgeable resource for all healthcare practitioners.
\n- Leadership: Perform duties of a Senior Respiratory Therapist, RRT, and act as a role model.
\n- Resource Management: Optimize the use of all available resources effectively.
\n- Regulatory Compliance: Assist in implementing activities required by regulatory agencies.
\n- Training & Development: Oversee department orientation, educational/in-service, and competency programs.
\n- Safety: Ensure a safe and appropriate work environment.
\n- Reporting: Prepare and provide various reports as needed.
\n- Clinical Operations: Supervise daily clinical operations within the Respiratory Care department.
\n- Performance Management: Complete performance appraisals, assist with staffing decisions, and implement personnel actions.
\n- Policy Compliance: Ensure adherence to hospital and departmental policies.
\n- Utilization: Promote effective utilization of Respiratory Care through assessment, evaluation, protocols, and consults.
\n- Communication: Facilitate communication between healthcare practitioners and Respiratory Care Services.
\n- Equipment Management: Coordinate the evaluation of products and equipment, and provide input on departmental equipment selection.
\n- Inventory Management: Manage and maintain supply inventory.

\n- Graduate of a Co ARC (Committee on Accreditation for Respiratory Care) approved Respiratory program required.
\n- Associate's degree is required; Bachelor's degree is preferred.
\n- 4 years of total respiratory care experience with a minimum of 3 years in critical care is required.
\n- Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license in practicing state required
\n- Basic Life Support or Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation required
\n- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) required
\n- Respiratory therapists who receive their RRT credential from the NBRC after July 1, 2002 are required to maintain certification under the NBRC guidelinesLicensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
\n- Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
\n- Osteopathic Respiratory Care OR Respiratory Care Practitioners (RCP)
\n- Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT)
\n- Act 33 with renewal
\n- Act 34 with renewal
\n- Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
