Job Summary:

The Supervisor, Operations will be responsible for directing and overseeing the operational needs of the Surgical Care Assistants and Patient Care Assistants. The Supervisor, Operations will coordinate the tasks of the department staff, as well as assist with staff training and development. The Supervisor, Operations will serve as a liaison between administration and hospital departments and provide the highest possible level of service.

Responsibilities:

  • Organizes, directs, and coordinates functions and activities of the SCA and PCTs in perioperative services
  • Interprets policies, procedures, standards, and regulations as appropriate for personnel, nursing and medical staff
  • Performs duties of the SCA and PCTs, as necessary
  • Prepares work schedules, assigns personnel, evaluates work performance, and makes recommendations for personnel action
  • Maintains and establishes departmental policies, procedures, objectives, safety, environmental, and infection control standards
  • Coordinates with operating room functions and with the nursing unit/area functions along with other user departments in order to provide services promptly and efficiently
  • Oversees equipment and supplies as required
  • Handles and stores instruments, equipment, and supplies appropriately
  • Maintains the cleanliness of work areas, as required
  • Directs the requisitioning, sorting, labeling, and issuance of professional equipment
  • Oversees the storage of medical supplies and equipment
  • Ensures staff compliance with competencies, certifications, policies, and procedures
  • Supervises, trains, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of staff
  • Prioritizes, schedules, assigns, and monitors work of the staff to optimize operational service
Qualifications/Requirements:

Experience:

  • 2+ years of progressive experience in the operating room or similar work, required
  • Minimum of 1 year of supervisory experience, preferred

Education:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate's degree, preferred

Licenses / Certifications:

  • BLS certification, required

Other:

Strong work ethic, intense drive, and initiative for quality and customer service. Ability to communicate effectively in written format and oral presentations with all levels in the organization. Excellent problem-solving skills both one-on-one and in group situations. Ability to function appropriately under stressful conditions. Knowledge of a variety of computer software applications in word processing, spreadsheets, database and presentation software such as MS Office Exhibits initiative, responsibility, flexibility and leadership
