SALARY Commensurate with certification and experience based on the Wicomico County Salary Scale for Administrators and Supervisors. Includes employee benefits package. HOURS Full time position, 12 months, 260 days Contract Unit: This position is part of the Unit II bargaining unit for Administrators and Supervisors. FLSA: Exempt QUALIFICATIONS Minimum of 5 years successful classroom teaching experience demonstrating a strong background in English/Language Arts instruction Master's degree in Reading Eligibility for Maryland Teaching Certificate with Administrator I Trained in the Science of Reading (e.g., LETRS, AIMS, SUNY) Experience supporting novice/non-tenured teachers preferred Ability to organize, delegate and supervise programs and staff Experience with the design, implementation, and evaluation of curriculum resources Thorough knowledge of Maryland's College and Career Readiness Standards, the Ready to Read Act, the Maryland Comprehensive Literacy Policy, and effective evidence-based instructional practices Experience with providing professional development and/or training experiences for adult learners in both small and large group settings Demonstrated leadership skills and personal qualities necessary to work successfully with students, teachers, administrators, supervisors, and other stakeholders Familiarity with Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Knowledge of Maryland's Blueprint and its implications for the elementary ELA program Experience working in diverse school communities with a focus on equity and access Excellent oral and written communication skills RESPONSIBILITIES Provide instructional leadership in English Language Arts (ELA) for elementary grades, with a focus on reading and writing development Collaborate with school-based administrators, instructional supervisors, and professional development coaches to support curriculum implementation and intervention strategies Review local and state data associated with ELA programs to inform instruction and improve literacy outcomes Design and facilitate professional development aligned to state standards, district goals, and research-based best practices Lead recruitment efforts for hiring elementary teachers Facilitate the process of purchasing resources that enhance instruction including their selection, budgeting, piloting and implementation Support compliance with state and federal literacy initiatives and reporting requirements Manage digital resource licenses as needed Monitor resources, including novels, and review orders and instructional resource requests related to English Language Arts Construct a budget based on the needs of the elementary English Language Arts program Serve on district committees and school-based Instructional Leadership Teams Attend MSDE collaborative meetings Perform other duties as assigned
