Job Description :
Under the clinical direction of a Radiologist and the Director of Radiology, supervises and performs a variety of diagnostic imaging procedures and therapeutic procedures. Responsible for Operating Nuclear Medicine equipment to make images of designated portions of the body under the supervision of a Radiologist and performs related duties. In addition to performing the duties of Nuclear Medicine Technologist, the Nuclear Medicine Coordinator is responsible for coordinating the flow of the nuclear medicine department by working closely with the radiology department staff, physicians, patients and nursing personnel. Assigns, directs and coordinates the activities of employees; schedules, orients and trains new employees; assures observance of policies, procedures and work standards; checks work for proper completion; takes corrective action as needed. Assists with interviews of applicants for staff positions to ensure applicant meets criteria for position. Provides input to the Radiology Director regarding employee job performance, morale, staffing, work standards, personnel matters and equipment performance. Evaluates performance of assigned personnel fairly and objectively in a timely manner. Writes competencies for the departments. Completes employee competencies: age-specific competency and yearly competencies on all assigned personnel. Completes orientation competency for new employees. Maintains proper documentation in accordance with NRC / State licensure requirements. Oversees and coordinates equipment maintenance and quality control to ensure equipment is operating properly. Functions as a working Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Assists in the preparation of the yearly department budget, investigates and assists in the election of capital equipment. Posts revisions of radionuclide test authorized by a physician, implements changes in operations and maintains a current procedure manual. Adheres to and performs in accordance with hospital rules and regulations related to fire, safety and emergency codes. Handles stressful and emergency situations with a clam rational demeanor. Deals with conflicts appropriately and privately. Required Education: High School Diploma / GED Preferred Education: Bachelors Degree Required Experience: Minimum 10 years experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist. Knowledge of principles and procedures of Nuclear Medicine. Knowledge of operation and maintenance of Nuclear Medicine equipment. Analytical skills to determine method of providing the requested Nuclear Medicine studies based on the specifics of each case. Ability to deal effectively with patients, patient families and department staff who may be under physical and / or emotional stress Required Certifications and Licensures: ARRT or CNMT certification. CPR certification
