SummarySupervises, coordinates activities of workers engaged in manufacturing of fasteners, operates machines and maintains and repairs machinery; ensures workers are following safety guidelines; monitors and controls production and expenses by performing the following duties.
Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesInclude the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Directly supervises 8-25 employees on 2nd or 3rd Shift in the Ashland U.S. Plant. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; resolving problems and performing job assignments (Zinc Mold operator, Assembly operator, other plant machinery, and closure department) when needed. Plus continually works to improve Supervisory and maintenance skills.

Education and/or ExperienceAssociate's degree (A. A.) or equivalent from two-year College or technical school; or two to three years related Supervisory experience and/or training; Two to three years of maintenance experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language SkillsAbility to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical SkillsAbility to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
Computer SkillsTo perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Manufacturing software; ability to use computer display screens and diagnostics; ability to use Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook); HMI Interfacing to PLC experience.
Other Skills, Qualifications and AbilitiesExperience working in a manufacturing environment; enforcing Safety procedures; Mechanical ability; experience with hydraulics and pneumatics; Two year electrical certificate preferred. Must be able to pass a physical exam in order to wear a respirator. Must be able to pass a driver's exam to operate a forklift along with the ability to be a forklift trainer. Lean Manufacturing training and/or experience helpful.
