Join an award-winning construction company in the Miami-Fort Lauderdale Area. Aplin has partnered with a leading company that specializes in institutional, commercial, industrial construction to recruit a full-time Superintendent for their growing operations in Miami. This is a full-time position that offers a clear career path and growth opportunities in an award-winning company. Candidates must be eligible to work immediately in the U.S. without employer sponsorship. Relocation assistance will be provided for candidates outside Florida. The Role: Responsible for all field operations to construct the project. Oversees on-site construction activities and ensures project plans and schedule are followed and that the project is executed effectively, safely, and within budget. Responsible for entire project(s) valued at $5M-$20M or an area superintendent on a project with a combined scope greater than $20M
  • Works with the project manager to ensure implementation of safety program, site plans and procedures, adhering to all safety and record-keeping requirements.
  • Supervises, directs, coaches, trains, and mentors the project team, including direct and indirect reports.
  • Effectively communicates with own forces and trades and ensures thatperformance, productivity, quality, and safety requirements are met.
  • Consistently collaborates with construction/project manager and project team. Proactively manages potential problems, work interferences, and scheduleconflicts/setbacks.
  • Liaises between field engineers, estimators and subcontractors to ensureconstruction complies with drawings and specifications.
  • Liaises with client, other site contractors, union and labor relations, and site andoffice representatives.
  • Visualizes an entire project, plans and creates the complete project schedule,identifies the critical path, and anticipates constructability issues.
  • Develops and implements the Project Execution Plan (PEP) and resource-loaded three-week lookahead schedules.
  • Creates, maintains, and executes the project plan and schedule, and ensurescompliance with budget and quality.
  • Reviews and understands the contract and subcontracts, and develops a plan thatidentifies and mitigates risks and maximizes opportunities to ensure all financial targets, including budgets, forecasts, and profitability levels are met.
  • Maintains project administration correspondence and complies with documentationrequirements.
  • Develops and maintains strong customer focused relationships with allstakeholders.
  • Values and models the solution provider and profitability culture.
  • Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Journeyman certificate or Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related discipline.
  • NCSO designation required (IND) preferred.
  • Min. 5 years of progressive experience in field supervision preferred.
  • Understanding of project scope and ability to apply basic engineering principles andembed solutions in construction plans and schedules.
  • Proficient understanding of and ability to apply logic to the schedule in order to builda plan using scheduling software.
  • Ability to coordinate multiple scopes of a construction project, including scheduling,monitoring, and coordinating own forces work (OFW) and trade contractors withthree-week lookahead schedules.
  • Thorough understanding of productivity rates or own forces work (OFW), Labor CostReports (LCRs), and ability to interpret cost reports.
  • Ability to complete material, labor, and equipment takeoffs.
  • Thorough understanding of contract language with the ability to identify andmitigate risks and identify and leverage opportunities.
  • Ability to lead and run effective site meetings with the client, consultants, trades,own forces work, and internal employees; ability to present at client meetings or forproject pursuit work.
  • Demonstrated conflict-resolution skills, problem-solving abilities, and professionaljudgment.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective stakeholder relationships.
  • Knowledge of virtual construction software and tools.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and internal operational systems.
