Summer 2026 Research Intern - Polymers

As a Research Intern in Polymers, you will explore the performance of advanced processing aids through hands-on formulation, testing, and analysis. Working alongside experienced mentors, you will operate state-of-the-art equipment, interpret data, and contribute to innovations that enhance polymer processing and sustainability.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Preparation of polymer processing aid samples
  • The intern will work together with mentor to use plastics processing equipment, such as extruder to prepare polymer processing aid samples.
  • Testing and analysis of polymer processing aids' effect
  • The intern will characterize different polymer processing aids' structure and properties using various tools, including TGA, DSC, FTIR, etc.
  • The intern will use state-of-the-art Capillary rheometer to test different polymer processing aid's rheological performance.
  • Analysis and report of experiment results.

Qualifications:

  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Chemical Engineering, Material Science, Physics, or other related technical disciplines
  • Have basic understanding of material structure-property relationships.
  • Proficient in MS office.

Program Minimum Qualifications:

  • The candidate must be actively enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program at the time of application and for at least one semester following the conclusion of the internship.
  • The candidate is expected to be available 40 hours a week for a period of 10-12 weeks between the months of May and August.

Base Pay Range: $22.00 - $26.00. The base salary offered is determined by factors including but not limited to education, experience, skill sets, and geography.
