Job Title: Success Coach and Student-Run Businesses Coordinato r Full/Part Time: Full-Time Campus: Post Campus Reports To: Associate Director, LIU Promise Basic Function and Scope of Responsibilities: The Success Coach and Student-Run Businesses Coordinator will be a student's point of contact fo r everything at the University- from academic advisement to getting involved on campus to financial aid co unseling to career development- helping the student to chart and navigate an individual path as part of the LIU f amily. A coach will work with student s one-on-one to create a success plan tailored to their needs, goals and interests, helping students to choose courses; select a major; find scholarships, internships and stu dy abroad opportunities and launch their careers. Success Coaches will keep students on track toward graduation and enable them to make a seamless transition from college student to successful professional. Reporting to a n Associate Director , the Success Coach and Student-Run Businesses Coordinator specializes in Academic & Career Success -specifically coordinating the Post campus student-run businesses . Principal Success Coach Responsibilities: Serve as primary advisor and success coach for working cohort of students ; Prepare students for their transition to the college, and integrate new students into the intellectual, cultural, and social life of the University ; Support the student experience through the LIU four-year model from pre-enrollment through graduation ; Assist in pre-enrollment, admissions, orientation, campus, and career activities reinforcing the importance of a collective, integrated college experience geared toward academic and career success ; Plan and execute campus programming, including campus activities, student success, and life planning seminars, to enhance student lif e, enjoyment, and effectiveness; Provide leadership to an ancillary responsibility within student involvement ; Provide academic advisement to each student, specifically through the progression of the initial registration upon acceptance to major/degree selection as it pertains to career interests and pursuits ; Interpret career assessment instruments and provide career resources/advisement, developing a timely career track congruent with students' academic pursuits ; Review financial aid information and assist students with understanding financial aid procedures ; I nstruct a section of the one-credit Post Foundations course each fall semester ; Coordinate with affiliate departments to achieve program recruitment and retention goals ; Complete weekly and monthly reports that demonstrate progress towards retention, student registration, and other key job performance indicators ; Create a welcoming environment for students, faculty, staff, and visitors at LIU Promise and its additional spaces by advising them of campus resources ; and, Other duties as assigned by LIU Promise leadership and University Dean of Students/Chief Diversity Officer . Principal Student-Run Businesses Responsibilities: Coordinate the operations of all student - ru n businesses on the Post campus; Serv e as an advisor for the student- run business executive officers, holding regular m eetings and one-on-one meetings; Work with student officers to coordinate hours of operation, student payroll, hiring processes a nd other human resource matters; Work with student officers to set a standard for recruiting, hiring, training, guest services, visual merc handising, and store operations; Develop a marketing and growth strategy to promote the businesses, enhance student engagement, increase sales and promotes op portunities for new businesses; Conduct regular trainings for student officers and student workers that provide professional development and expe riential learning opportunities; Create and maintain incentives for student employees and officers that include; resume and cover letter support, alumni networking, personal mentorship, and other incentives to participate ; Mainta in the integrity of all student- run business facilities, coordinating all work orders, maintenance concerns, and infrastructure enhancemen ts; Approach all aspects of the role with an evolution, CSR and cost-conscious mindset to continue to elevate existing processes ; Provide regular reporting on profits/losses, business init iatives, inventory, and budgets; Re present LIU Promise and Student- Run Businesses at University events and admissions functions; Oversee edit of existing policies and procedures to ensure relevancy in today's business ; Act as a partner between customers, sales associates, store leadership, corporate business partners, and other stakeholders to promote the overall success of the program; Plan large-scale programming and events that help to market and pro mote the program and businesses; Assist in the r ecruit ment , train ing and hiring of student leaders to serve as orientation leaders, resident assistants and student workers ; and, Provide weekend and evening coverage of student life and student organization programs . Education Requirements: Bachelor's degree required ; Master's degree in higher education, student affairs, or related field is preferred. Training, Skills, Knowledge, Experience: Qualified applicants will have: 1- 3 years of progressively professional experience in higher education, student affairs , or a related field, working with students from historically underrepresented populations Consistently demonstrate the core competencies set for all student affairs educators by NASPA and ACPA Clear evidence of leadership in and commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion and a record of working collaboratively with constituencies with diplomacy, empathy, and tact S ensitivity to and demonstrated an understanding of the needs of a diverse student body Excellent oral and written communication skills with sound judgement and decision-making High energy and enthusiasm to work with students and propel them toward success Ability to design and implement innovative programs with a strong attention to detail Interpersonal communication skills Computer skills/literacy Working Conditions: Flexible hours, including weekends and evenings, are required to properly execute the position's role .
