Applications are continuously being accepted for this positionand may be used to fill vacancies which may occur within the GST BOCES RegionSUBSTITUTE REGISTERED NURSE: 10-Month School Calendar Position RN positions involve caring for the medical needs of students placed in BOCES classrooms which are located in a Special Education Host Site program. Assistance with all medical aspects of the students' day is expected.

• Plans for periodic examinations and screening procedures as required by State Law and Board of Education Policy.
• Assists the School Physician with physical, visual, audio screening examinations of students and employees.
• Administers first aid and emergency treatment to students and employees.
• Performs medical procedures prescribed by doctors for students .
• Appraises the mental and physical health status of pupils through observation and analysis of records on a continuing basis.
• Assists in feeding and care of students with disabilities
• Prepares, maintains and shares information on Cumulative Health Records with appropriate staff.
• Arranges transportation of sick or injured students or employees to hospital or home.
• Orders inventory and oversees the storage of first aid and related health supplies and equipment.
• Assists the administrator in planning and maintaining a safe, healthful school environment, including the establishment and implementation of emergency care procedures.
• Participates in the development of policies to improve and protect the health of students and school personnel.
• Prepares records and reports as required.
• Seeks professional development opportunities to further growth.
• Carries out all other duties as assigned.
