Assist in the preparation of instructional materials and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). Provide routine clerical support.

Required: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. An AA degree (or equivalent) or passage of proficiency examination in compliance with Education Code and No Child Left Behind Act. 3. Experience working with individuals with special education needs in an organized setting. 4. Valid California driver's license. 5. Sign language, braille or bilingual skills are required for some specifically identified positions. 6. First Aid and CPR certification (provided by SLOCOE) must be obtained within 130 days of employment. 7. Federal Bureau of Investigation and the California Department of Justice fingerprint clearance as required by California Education Code.

There will be a signing skills assessment that you must pass in order to qualify for this position. Per state law, all applicants must have 48 semester units, OR an AA degree OR pass the CBEST test OR show proof of ESSA/NCLB compliance provided by a school district OR take an Instructional Assistant Proficiency exam.

This recruitment is to establish a Substitute pool for the position of Instructional Assistant with Signing Skills, Special Education. Positions may be for both school year and extended school year. Assignments are between 3.5 and 7 hours per day. Classrooms are located at Fairgrove Elementary School in Grover Beach and Mesa Middle School in Arroyo Grande. Candidates must meet minimum requirements of the position. Mileage stipends apply for jobs located more than 15 miles (one way) from your home. SLOCOE does not participate in Social Security but contributes to PERS (Public Employees Retirement System). *Some benefits may apply.
