Substitute Food Service Helper - Wappingers Central School District : Job Details

• Assists cooks in phases of food preparation involving lesser degrees of skill than those of Cook or Assistant Cook.

• Assists in the preparation of salads and desserts.

• Cleans, washes, and otherwise prepares vegetables and fruits for cooking.

• Washes dishes, pots and pans by hand or machine.

• Cleans kitchen or dining areas.

• Cleans work areas and equipment such as counters, trays, tray carts, hot food tables, coffee urns, toasters, etc.

• Handles food and equipment in accordance with sanitary practices.

• Fills sugar bowls and salt and pepper shakers.

• Attends inservice training sessions.

• May assemble items for bag lunches.

• May set tables and clear them after meals.

• May act as cashier.

• Does related work as required.

Upon completion of the hiring process, including all mandatory paperwork, candidates for all substitute positions must receive WCSD Board approval as a WCSD substitute prior to starting assignment date.

Job Qualifications

High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred

Fingerprint clearance through NYS TEACH (NYSED) ( is required (Applicant for Employee)
