As a department in Mecklenburg County's Healthand Human Services Agency, CSS maximizes community partnerships andcollaborative opportunities to improve access to services and advocate for theneeds of special populations.Position Specific Information
This position will be housed onsiteat the Mecklenburg County Detention Center in uptown Charlotte at 801East Fourth Street, Charlotte, NC 28202.The position hours are Monday – Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.Candidates are required to becredentialed or licensed with the NCASPPB including CADC, or LCAS. Provisionally certified and associate licensedindividuals may be considered such as LCAS-A and CADC-INTERN status withthe NCASPPB.The candidate for this positionwill be responsible for providing treatment services (individualcounseling, group counseling, facilitating screenings and assessments,and case management duties) following the 12 Core Functions of substanceuse counseling.Selected candidate will berequired to complete onboarding processes with both the County and withthe Mecklenburg County Sheriff's Office (MCSO). This includes the abilityto obtain and maintain facility access to the Mecklenburg CountyDetention Center as a contingency of employment.Position Summary
Providecounseling to individuals with various substance use and mental healthissues. This position, with a high degree of latitude, is responsible forproviding general counseling, developing person-centered plans, andproviding educational lectures based on the 12 core functions ofsubstance use counseling.Essential Functions
Provide substance use services based on the 12 core functions of substance use counselingProvide individual and group counselingAssist with the development of the client's person-centered plan and monitor progressComplete documentation in accordance with Federal, state and county policiesParticipate in clinical supervisionProvide didactic education on recovery related topicsGenerate letters on behalf of clients to verify participation in treatmentConduct random urine drug screens or Breathalyzer testsComplete Incident Reports as neededMaintain client recordWork on an interdisciplinary team and communicate daily with the teamMay be required to staff shelters in the event of a disaster or assist with other mass care duties in the event of an emergencyMinimum Qualifications
Experience: Minimumof three years of experience in substance abuse counseling.Education: Bachelor's Degree ina human services field.Combinationof relevant education and relevant experience accepted: YesLicenses and Certifications:Certified as an Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CADC), Licensed Clinical Addictions Specialist (LCAS), by the North Carolina Substance Abuse Professional Practice Board. Provisionally certified and associate licensed individual may be considered.Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License.May require the ability to obtain and maintain Mecklenburg County Driving Privileges.Preferred Qualifications
Previous work experiencein a criminal justice setting.Full CADC certificationor full LCAS licensure with the NCASPPB.Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
