We are seeking an experienced Substance Abuse Counselor (CASAC) to join a Bronx-based care team as a part of a reputable NYC-based non-profit organization that strives to improve the lives of homeless, at-risk, and mentally ill individuals. Substance Abuse Counselor Key Responsibilities:
In this Substance Abuse Counselor role, you will:
- Manage a caseload of clients with complex needs, providing counseling and individualized support
- Develop recovery-focused care plans and regularly evaluate progress toward wellness goals
- Deliver one-on-one and group-based services focused on relapse prevention, recovery skills, and emotional regulation
- Link clients to medical, mental health, and substance use treatment services across the community
- Support clients in accessing benefits, budgeting, and building life skills for long-term stability
- Plan and facilitate educational sessions, sober social activities, and wellness workshops
- Maintain accurate documentation that meets organizational and regulatory standards
Substance Abuse Counselor Requirements:
- CASAC Certification — Required
- Bachelor's degree in Social Work, Human Services, Psychology, or a related field — Required
- Minimum 3 years of experience in substance use counseling
