POSITION OVERVIEW As a Student Support Specialist, you'll provide targeted academic and behavioral support to students across our award-winning charter schools. Working closely with teachers, administrators, and families, you'll implement personalized interventions that help every student succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.
WHAT YOU'LL DO Deliver Targeted Academic Support: - Provide one-on-one and small group instruction in core subjects (reading, writing, math, science, social studies)
- Assist special education case managers and classroom teachers with implementing intervention strategies and curriculum modifications
- Monitor student progress and assess effectiveness of academic interventions
- Document interventions, collect data, and generate detailed progress reports
Foster Social-Emotional Growth: - Develop and implement individualized behavior plans for students requiring additional support
- Lead social skills groups to build relationship and communication abilities
- Teach self-regulation, decision-making, and social-emotional learning strategies
- Support students in developing confidence and resilience
Build Collaborative Partnerships: - Communicate regularly with teachers and parents about student growth and improvement strategies
- Participate in teacher/parent conferences and student evaluation meetings
- Refer students to counseling or special education services when appropriate
- Maintain accurate student records and comprehensive documentation
WHAT YOU BRING Essential Qualifications: - High school diploma or equivalent with minimum 3 years related professional experience
- Strong commitment to One City's mission and working with diverse student populations
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and comfort learning new technology
- Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving abilities
- Physical ability to lift and push at least 50 pounds
- Successful completion of background check
