Student Support Liaison

WCSU's Pre-Collegiate and Access Programs include the following programs: Danbury Public Schools Collaborative, Upward Bound/ConnCAP, Excel, EA2P(Educational Achievement and Access Program) and PASS (Promoting Academically Successful Students). The Upward Bound/ConnCAP program is a year-round, college preparatory program serving approximately 110 high school students from grades 9 through 12. The Excel program is a middle-school feeder program currently serving 90 students in grades 7 and 8. The EA2P program is a year-round academic enhancement program serving underprivileged college students. The PASS program enables underserved populations to make progress toward their academic goals. These programs are supported by the by the Connecticut Office of Higher Education, the U.S. Department of Education, and the City of Danbury. Position Summary: Responsible for identifying individuals to participate in the EA2P program and ensuring successful transitions to college during their first year at the University. Additionally, assists and mentors students in the PASS program with transitioning from Academic Probation and remaining on the path to becoming a graduate of the University. May supervise University Assistants and Student Employees.

Position Responsibilities:

• Assists with the development and implementation of program activities which will aid participating students in their academic, career, personal and organizational
• Advises, counsels, and leads participating under-prepared college students and disadvantaged college students in collaborative group initiatives designed to enhance academic success and personal growth.
• Maintains current individual student records and reports. Assists with data collection, as necessary.
• Assists with the direction and formulation of policies and programs that yield assistance to first-generation and/or low-income students in obtaining services available at the University campus.
• Acts as a liaison between university faculty and staff to develop and implement activities to promote student persistence and student growth.
• Acts as a liaison between the Pre-Collegiate & Access EA2P Bridge program and the University Admissions Office to assist in identifying and/or selecting eligible students to participate in the EA2P Bridge program.
• Assists EA2P Bridge participants with the transition to college during their first year, providing orientation support through program activities and coordinating with other University departments.
• Assists with program evaluation and preparing annual reports for state and federal grants.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree is required.
• Two (2) years of experience working with students in a counseling, advising, teaching, or related educational support capacity.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and any type of student database.
• Demonstrated experience integrating technology into the educational counseling process with students who are exploring their college, career, and educational goals.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with instructional departments to create support services for students.
• Experience with community outreach and creating relationships for WCSU EA2P Bridge program to establish community service projects.
• Demonstrated experience complying with state, federal, and TRIO grant requirements and reporting guidelines.
• Demonstrated ability to read, write and speak Spanish and/or Portuguese.
• Strong verbal, presentation, and written skills.

Salary & Benefits: The hiring salary range is $57,552 - $78,545 and is commensurate upon candidates' experience. WCSU offers a comprehensive benefits package.
