The Division of Student Affairs is hiring a Student Success Coordinator to provide direct support to undergraduate and graduate students who are undocumented (including AB540 and DACA), from mixed-status families, first-generation and/or low-income (FLI) backgrounds, transfer students, and guardian scholars (current or former foster youth). This role serves as a liaison and designated point of contact for these student populations and will focus on both individualized support and strategic planning to build infrastructure that meets their short- and long-term needs at Stanford.
Reporting to the Associate Dean and The Kelsey and Robert Murphy Director for the First-Generation and/or Low-Income Student Success Center (FLISSC), the Student Success Coordinator will support the planning, development, implementation, and assessment of programs and services designed to enhance the experience and success of these students across the university. This role provides direct advising and support services while collaborating on strategic initiatives that enhance student success, retention, and inclusion.

In This Role, You Will :
Direct Student Support & Advising
Serve as a primary point of contact for undocumented (AB540/DACA), mixed-status family, transfers, and guardians student scholars (current and former foster youth).
Provide proactive advising and resource navigation for underserved student communities, ensuring equitable access to academic support, financial aid, registration, wellness services, and campus engagement opportunities.
Oversee day-to-day questions, case management, advising, and student support services.
Evaluate student challenges and direct them to relevant support services.
Provide guidance to students in crisis or at risk; counsel students and families on sensitive, confidential matters.
Assess and propose resources or support structures to meet student needs.
Connect students with campus offices, staff, and faculty to support academic success and retention.
Collaborate with internal and external partners (e.g., non-profits, community organizations, social services agencies, academic units) to resolve student issues.
Advise prospective and current students on life at Stanford, referring them to appropriate offices.
Program Development & Strategic Planning
Collaborate with students to plan and implement proactive programs and support services that address emerging needs and promote short-term and long-term student success.
Recommend and implement onboarding plans, policies, and program workflows to ensure compliance and foster a welcoming experience.
Design and implement programs specifically aimed at increasing the sense of belonging, persistence, and graduation rates among underserved student communities.
Evaluate student challenges and direct them to relevant support services.
Create and distribute informational materials (websites, brochures, newsletters, handbooks).
Facilitate meetings with campus departments and external stakeholders to share updates and improve services.
Consult and provide support to academic departments, schools, student affairs offices, staff, and faculty on best practices and support for undocumented/former foster youth students.
Liaises with academic and student affairs offices, faculty, and/or external contacts to provide community support and response.
Provides timely responses to national news and changes.
Develop a preliminary budget plan that supports a comprehensive, life-cycle-based student experience—from application to graduation.
Administrative & Compliance Responsibilities
Interpret and apply university policies, regulations, and procedures—some of which may be sensitive or complex—in consultation with the supervisor.
Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with university and legal policies.
Stay informed on policies affecting undocumented and other priority student populations.
Monitor budget allocations for effectiveness and alignment with services.
Advise the supervisor on operational, administrative, personnel, and budget matters.
Prepare reports and complete administrative documentation as required.
Serve as a Campus Security Authority (CSA) for Clery Act reporting; maintain certification.
Perform other duties as assigned.
To Be Successful in This Role, You Will Bring :
Bachelor's degree in social work, psychology, sociology, or a closely related field and three years of progressively responsible work in student services or related student programs.
Knowledge of and demonstrated experience supporting students who are undocumented (AB540/DACA), from mixed-status families, transfer students, and/or guardian student scholars (current or former foster youth).
Knowledge of financial aid programs such as the California Dream Act and Promise grants.
Ability to design, develop, and revise policies, administrative procedures, forms, and manuals.
Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing to students, staff, and community partners.
Ability to exercise discretion and confidentiality when interacting with others, as appropriate.
Ability to respond promptly to escalated cases and maintain timely communications with appropriate personnel.
Ability to call in for real-time consultations with supervisors or designated staff on sensitive student matters, ensuring coordinated and informed decision-making.
Ability to organize and maintain confidential student and program reports, records, and files.
Ability to analyze situations accurately and adopt an effective course of action.
Ability to organize, set priorities, and exercise sound judgment within areas of responsibility.
Ability to learn department and program objectives and goals.
Ability to develop and maintain complex budgets.
Ability to make appropriate referrals to district or community services.
Ability to organize, evaluate, and compile data for various governmental agencies.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships.
Ability to plan and organize work for self and others.
Ability to meet schedules and timelines.

The expected pay range for this position is: $94,998 - $97,000
