Using a holistic and ecological approach, the Student Success Coach is primarily responsible for supporting students as they persist through their first year at the College. Through extended orientation, students develop fluency with academic, financial, wellness, and engagement-related success strategies, policies, and timeline. Maintain an accurate understanding of student academic progress, financial aid standard of progress, and applicable risk factors impacting student success. The Student Success Coaches work will be closely aligned with the Professional Academic Advisor in the Academic Advising, Career & Transfer Service Office.

This is a full-time, grant-funded position.

Qualifications.

* Educational Background: Bachelor of Art or Science degree required in Education, Social Work, Human Services, or related field. Masters degree in related fields mentioned preferred.

* Special Skills: Minimum of four years professional experience in student counseling, residential life, student support, or academic advising required, preferably in a community college setting. Demonstrable experience supporting students in both individualized and group settings. Ability to work with a diverse student population to provide a variety of student support and triage services to students. Knowledge and understanding of student development theory and practice are required. Ability to identify student needs and offer solutions with superior communications skills, and human relations skills. Excellent organizational skills to maintain accurate records required. Ability to work respectfully with confidential information and make referrals as appropriate. MS Office and database management skills are required. Ability to synthesize, propose, and execute solutions from a variety of data sources related to student success and support. Familiarity with computerized student information systems is required, Ellucian preferred. Will work primarily at the Canandaigua campus and will travel to the campus centers at scheduled times. The set work schedule varies daily and includes scheduled daytime, evening and weekend hours at 37.5 hours a week

Essential Functions.

* Provide holistic support to students

* Facilitate extended orientation workshop series

* Prepare and execute extended orientation learning objectives.

* Maintain accurate records on each advisee in appropriate systems; evaluate students at the conclusion of each semester and determine status and academic recovery plan (if appropriate.)

* Monitor student challenges with the Colleges early alert systems (Starfish, Chatbot, etc.)

* Working with Academic Advisement, Career & Transfer Services (AACTS), ensure student completes New Student Intake Survey and follow up when key indicators show need for intervention.

* Maintain frequent contact with advisees, building a trusting and supportive relationship.

* Work collaboratively with professional and faculty advisors to support students. Maintain strong collaboration with academic department FYE/FYS courses. Collaborate with academic departments to stay current and discuss student experience enhancements.

* Work collaboratively with AACTS Professional Academic Advisors to understand registration activities, timelines, and general knowledge.

* Possess advanced knowledge and awareness of:

* First-term, first-generation, and ecological impacts on student success

* Financial Aid processes, guidelines, and programs

* Academic Standards and advise students affected by them

* The College organizational structure and community resources.

* Assist students with the generation and attainment of career, transfer, and other important planning for personal success.

* Make appropriate referrals to career and transfer services, academic tutoring, disability services, wellness center, emergency loans, and other support services on and off campus as needed.

* Understand and adhere to confidentiality of student information and related data as well as FERPA guidelines.

* Disseminate information on institutional policies and procedures.

* Work collaboratively within Student Affairs and Enrollment Management to engage students and encourage participation in both curricular and co-curricular activities.

* Perform all duties as assigned by the Assistant Director, Assoc. VP of Student Affairs or Provost.

Benefits and salary range:

* Competitive starting salary in the range of $46,500-$49,000 and is commensurate with qualifications
