This position has been established to strengthen PS/MS 123 community school program's ability to increase student attendance rates, academic scores and family engagement strategies simultaneously. About the Position

The Student Success Coach will be responsible for providing behavioral wellness services to children and youth at PS 123 who have identified behavioral needs. The Student Success Coach is responsible for supporting students with emotional/behavioral regulation as well as advocating for their emotional, mental and physical wellbeing. In collaboration with school staff and School-Based Mental Health Team, they will work to support with preventative measures such as, one on one teacher discussions, classroom workshops, facilitating student meetings, and running activity groups.

Duties and Responsibilities:

+ Support students' behavioral regulation using socioemotional learning practices and approaches

+ Assess students to identify needs as well as carry out appropriate school-based crisis interventions and de-escalation supports

+ Provide direct support to at-risk students in the form of individual and group support, conflict peer mediation, crisis intervention, and classroom push-in

+ Conduct outreach to parents/caregivers regarding student support

+ Manage and implement restorative practices in the school community

+ Teach students social skills and coping techniques

+ Collaborate with School Based Mental Health Clinician, Guidance Counselor, and school team to create and implement behavior or action plans for students experiencing challenges

+ Document students' progress and interventions daily on student success tracker

+ Participate in student support meetings

+ Co-facilitate professional development opportunities for school staff

+ Attend and participate in supervision, staff meetings and trainings

Qualifications

+ Bachelor's Degree in psychology, social work, childhood education, or similar field

+ Knowledge of trauma work, evidence based practices, and child welfare a plus

+ Takes initiative and has a positive attitude

+ Ability to effectively communicate with people from diverse backgrounds

+ Bilingual - Spanish a plus
