Student Services Assistant IV/Graduate Field Administrator

The position is located within the School of the Environment and Sustainable Development. Under general supervision, serve as Graduate Field Administrator (GFA), supporting the fields of Natural Resources and the Environment and Development Sociology. Serve as a resource to graduate students, graduate faculty, the Director of Graduate Studies (DGS) and Director of Master of Professional Studies (MPS) for graduate and professional degree program policies and procedures, providing support to the Graduate Admissions Committee, tracking and managing graduate student financial support, tracking and processing fellowship and assistantship appointments and bursar credits in conjunction with Financial Reporting Specialist and Director of Administration. Handle student data and reporting to DGS, MPS Director, and faculty advisors regarding student status and progress towards degree. Assist with graduate program recruitment efforts to increase number and quality of applicants including developing material for relevant sections of department website, developing recruiting material and actively maintaining relationships with prospective students. Coordinate and support commencement and other student-related events.

What We Need
  • Formal training beyond a high school diploma of 1 to 2 years, 2 years college coursework or Associate's degree: more than 4 years, but less than 6 years' experience.
  • Experience in use of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Must be personable, flexible, possess excellent, organizational and communication skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must exhibit good judgment, creativity, reasoning, analytical thought, innovation in solving minor problems that occur day to day and problem-solving and handle sensitive/confidential material.
  • Demonstrated record of successfully providing exceptional customer service, strong communication (written and oral), interpersonal and organizational skills, as well as ability to take initiative and handle ongoing activities while using sound judgment and paying close attention to details.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively within a team environment while working under pressure.
  • Able to work quickly and effectively under pressure, use judgment in accomplishing tasks that are urgent; balance conflicting priorities, and make decisions from a range of choices. Solid reasoning, analytical thought, creativity, and innovation in solving minor problems that occur daily.
  • Ability to cultivate and develop inclusive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and community members.

This position is eligible for a hybrid work arrangement. Employees typically perform this role remotely one day per week and on-campus four days per week.
