Student Help and Seasonal Laborers are hired to assist in our Highway Maintenance department assisting with a variety of road/highway maintenance responsibilities; in our Bridge Department assisting crews in the building and maintenance of bridges and culverts; in our Fleet Maintenance Department assisting our mechanics in maintaining our fleet; and in our Mobility Department assisting with paint striping, sign installation, and other duties.

All seasonal hires will receive the necessary safety training and personal protective equipment to perform their assigned tasks and will be issued steel-toed boots as needed.

Typical Qualifications

The minimum age for all employment is 18 years.

Pre-employment drug and alcohol testing is required.

The Franklin County Engineer's Office provides Seasonal employees with t-shirts and steel-toed boots (as needed). Seasonal employees are eligible for Holiday pay for the number of hours usually worked on the day of the Holiday.

All positions at the Franklin County Engineer's Office are part of the Ohio Public Employees Retirement System (OPERS). Each employee contributes 10% of their gross wages and the Engineer's Office contributes 14%. More information can be found at:
